Message from the President

Welcome to Trinidad International University’s website!

This certainly is an exciting place full of challenges and rewards.  Our programs are unlike any other.  Our project-based learning methods and hands-on curriculum are designed so that our students take an active role in their learning. With the guidance of a professor, culinary arts students begin cooking, web design students work on their designs, and education students start teaching almost immediately after registering with our school.

Trinidad International University is located in the heart of Miami, FL between downtown and the Miami International Airport.  Our campus is in a middle school building which gives our Education students the opportunity to practice their newly acquired, advanced teaching techniques.  Most of our classes are held in the evenings and on Saturdays when the young students are home, however.  Trinidad International University’s association with River Cities Community Charter School helps us create a family environment, different from the rest, since families receive scholarships and support.  We share the smart boards and other technology to make your educational experience more affordable since we need all this equipment to teach everything from GED to Quickbooks courses.

We are also collaborating with The Art Link Gallery in the neighboring Wynwood Arts District.   Art residencies and various programs serve Miami’s low income communities in myriad ways thanks to our collaboration. Trini U has brought Ethnic Exposure Dance Ensemble, Ethnic Exposure Events, Fiesta Flamenca, Danza Dominicana, DCO Orquestra, and other performance groups and programs from Chicago to expose Miami’s audiences to a variety of cultures from around the world.  Lead dancers and musicians also teach at our weekday evening and weekend workshops.

The online community has access to many Trinidad International University classes thanks to our Global Skills Department.  In places where individuals do not have access to the world wide web, Trini U sends out donated learning materials.  Our Educational Services Department also has an outreach component by giving scholarships to students and providing them with job placement opportunities.

Trinidad International University is about community building and collaboration.  In the future, we will expand our programs to offer degree programs in the fields of medicine, engineering, and other sciences.  We also plan to build state-of-the-art facilities to better serve our students and friends.  In the meantime, please enjoy our humble educational environment and join us as we continue to work hard regardless of the obstacles that may stand in our way.

Our mascot is the hummingbird, a bird that savors life and never stops flapping its wings.  He perseveres!
